Description

If you love cream cheese frosting but want something with a little extra depth and warmth, this Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting is for you! Made with just 4 ingredients, this frosting is rich, velvety smooth, and a perfect balance between sweet and tangy. Gently melting the brown sugar before whipping it into the cream cheese ensures there’s no grainy texture–just pure, caramelized goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 67 g (⅓ cup) light or dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 113 g (½ cup) salted butter, at room temperature
  • 113 g (4 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 360 g (3 cups) powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the brown sugar and water over medium heat. Stir for 3-4 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Immediately remove from the heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

Notes

Adjust consistency - For a thinner frosting, slowly add a little milk (or heavy cream) until you reach your desired consistency.

Storage - Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Freezer - Store in an freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
